![]() Hillsville's Unique Christmas Dinner
January 15, 2010 - Posted By KDS The Hillsville Church of God (COG) has been reaching out to the community. On Dec. 19th The Hillsville COG fought through the weather to have their Christmas dinner with a twist. This year instead of having a dinner where everyone came, brought food and went through the usual routine they made a turkey dinner and gave it to the community. They had their doubts and wasn't sure if it was going to work out the way they planned, but everything fell in place. With the help of their friends, families and their four wheel drives they delivered around 100 dinners to people in the area on a very snowy day. Their first stop was a local retirement community, then on to a nearby nursing home for the staff that had been snowed in, and last but not least they fed volunteers that were delivering boxes of food to needy families. They said they knew people thought they were crazy for having their dinner in the wintry weather but God had a plan and knew who would need it most. The church hopes that the community people's hearts were touched and that they can continue to do more. They also had some help from members of the Independence COG, and the pastor of the Fellowship Wesleyan Church. A special thanks goes out to all of them - Hillsville COG claims it couldn't have done it without them! Submitted by: Pastor Gerald Humphrey
