Ministry on the Margins At All Nations Church of God

Ministry in the Margin. These are the words that come to mind when we think of the Church of All Nations.

After 50 years in the historic city of Alexandria, our congregation relocated from our beautiful sanctuary to a temporary space in Woodbridge, Virginia, nearly 20 miles south of our nation’s capital. Three years later, we have accepted the challenge to carry on Kingdom work without a Kingdom building.  It’s been liberating in that we have been asked to change our mindset and think outside the box—and, outside our physical building—in serving our community.

All Nations continues to be a Spirit-led, prayer-focused ministry. We have sought the Lord for divinely inspired ways to effectively minister first, to Him, and then to others.  Our mission is to love, develop, and discover Christ and His people.  It is our desire that no soul should perish, but come to the saving love, knowledge, and acceptance of Jesus Christ.

Our name of “All Nations” is literally that.  With nearly 10 nations represented in our congregation, we authentically embody the heart of Christ.  We are a divinely empowered church--multi-cultural, multi-generational, and multi-gifted--that has intentionally sought to love, serve, and respect all people and all cultures.

Our ministry has consistently and effectively served within the margins and with the marginalized.  This is what we have all been called to do.  Let us share with you some of the open doors that have been set before us over the past 20 years as my wife and I have had the honor to lead as Senior Pastors.

We have:

·      Ministered and been a part of the National Day of Prayer by leading worship on the West Lawn of the Capital in DC for the past eight years.

·      Supported our local law enforcement officers of Prince William County by providing prayer and breakfast treats.

·      Provided over 500 sets of masks, water, and gloves to our sanitation workers to show our appreciation for their occupation and hard work, especially in response to COVID-19.

·      Supported world missions through our covenant with and service to Pan De Vida in Quito, Ecuador. Pan De Vida is a feeding ministry for impoverished children; we support their ministry financially and in missionary efforts (manual labor, ministry endeavors, and fellowship).

·      For the past three years:

o   Partnered with a local Title 1 school by stocking their food bank so that they could provide food for low-income households.
o   Hosted an Easter ‘Eggstravaganza.’ What a joy it was to bless the children with more than 5,000 eggs, an Easter bunny mascot, a photo booth, fun line dancing, and a crazy-fun moon bounce.
o   Held several fall festivals providing everything from pumpkin crafts to hayrides for the kids. The blessing that comes from this is the connection that has developed between the church, the school, and our community.

These highlights are just a small sampling of the creative opportunities we have been given.  We look forward to continuing to be a Kingdom-building Ministry on the Margins.
